Fire department - Fire in the station building - one seriously injured

Holle (dpa/lni) - A fire broke out in the station building in Holle, in the Hildesheim district, in the evening for unknown reasons in the basement of the listed building, as the police reported. The building is also used for rental and housing for homeless people. The basement contains two clothing rooms of charitable organizations.

All inhabitants were able to leave the house independently. However, a 48-year-old man was so severely injured that he had to be taken to a hospital by a rescue helicopter. The damage caused is estimated to be around 350,000 Euro.

Train traffic and the station square were closed for firefighting efforts. A shuttle bus service was set up. The closures could still be lifted during the night.

The local fire department was quickly called to the scene due to the fire in Holle, located within the Hildesheim district of Lower Saxony. Despite the extensive damage, the fire department managed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the listed building. The police are currently investigating the cause of the fire in the fire department's investigation.
