Emergency - Fire department rescues woman from the Ruhr
Fire department forces in Essen rescued a woman from the Rhine river. The woman had been pulled into a weir by the strong current and was trying to hold onto a grate. Employees of a scaffolding company discovered her and called the rescue services.
A specially trained stream rescuer was able to swim to the woman and secure her, according to the fire department. She was then extracted from the water using a ladder truck. The woman was taken to a hospital. It is unclear why she ended up in the water.
The incident occurred near the Ruhr, a prominent region in North Rhine-Westphalia. The operational force of the Essen fire department was quickly mobilized due to the emergency. Despite the robust current, the woman managed to grasp onto a nearby grate before being found by the fire department and a nearby scaffolding company's employees.
