Extreme right-wing US conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, a renowned figure popularized by his platform "Infowars", has been mandated to sell off personal possessions like a 2.8 million dollar ranch and his private residence, to cover roughly 1.5 billion USD (approximately 1.4 billion Euros) in damages. This decision was made by a Texas bankruptcy court, according to US media reports.

Jones has long maintained that the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which resulted in the death of 20 children and 6 teachers, was a manipulated event intended to implement stricter gun control. The survivors and their families have faced harassment and defamation from his followers ever since. Various lawsuits were filed against Jones, and several relative parties have won, awarding him these damages.

Among the Sandy Hook survivors, there's disagreement regarding what should be prioritized. Some emphasize the need to silence Jones and shut down his online platform, "Infowars". They would therefore be in favor of a diminished damage amount. On the other hand, others are more concerned with financially punishing Jones and demand the full awarded amount. This has led to a predicament: In order to procure the necessary funds, Jones must first generate them.

The exact timeline for the survivors receiving their compensation is uncertain, as Jones has filed multiple appeals in the cases. Additionally, reports suggest that he transferred millions to other companies before the court proceedings, which are connected to his family and friends.

Recently, the memories of the Sandy Hook tragedy resurfaced in the US. On Wednesday, a number of students and teachers who survived the incident eleven years ago and continue to deal with severe trauma attended their graduation ceremony.
