Witnesses reported a quarrel between eight people that moved from a mechanic's apartment to the street. The police encountered two of the parties involved in the brawl on the street. During the brawl, one participant apparently used a bathroom scale as a weapon.

The police stated that the fight was due to missing wage payments. The main aggressor, a 26-year-old man, reportedly was significantly under the influence of alcohol and had to give a blood sample.

The brawl in Heusweiler, Saarland, sparked a controversy within the local community due to its extreme nature.
