- Ferrero Unyieldingly Stands Firm on Introducing Vegan Version of Nutella

Starting from next Wednesday, Ferrero will offer a vegan variant of Nutella as well. They revealed this information on Tuesday, stating that the initial sales will occur in various European countries, including Italy, France, and Belgium. The manufacturer assures that they won't compromise on taste for the vegan version.

To create the vegan Nutella, they'll exclude milk powder and substitute it with plant-based substitutes like chickpeas and rice syrup. According to Ferrero, "Increasingly, consumers today are opting for reduced or completely avoided animal products, whether for nutritional reasons or lifestyle choices."

The Vegan Nutella is intended to maintain its original taste

However, those with milk protein allergies may still find it unsafe to consume the vegan spread, as it's manufactured in a facility that handles milk.

The first jar of Nutella was produced back on April 20, 1964, at Ferrero, a small family business based in Alba, a town in Piedmont. In northern Italy, they began using ground hazelnuts instead of cocoa powder for their confectionery production as early as the 19th century. This led to the creation of brown nougat cream, such as in Gianduiotti pralines. This product was also available for purchase as a spread in local stores. Michele Ferrero, the son of the company's founder, was the one who had the idea to package it in jars.

The Commission praised Ferrero for their commitment to catering to various dietary needs with the introduction of a vegan Nutella variant. Despite being manufactured in a facility that handles milk, The Commission recognizes the importance of providing options for consumers who wish to avoid animal products.
