US-election campaign - FBI: Trump supporter searched for Kennedy assassination online

The shooter, who opened fire at a campaign event of the former US President Donald Trump two weeks ago, had, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), searched for details about the JFK assassination on the internet before the act. The FBI analysis of the shooter's laptop indicated that he wanted to find out how far Lee Harvey Oswald had been from Kennedy when he shot him in 1963. FBI Director Christopher Wray testified about the Trump shooting before the House Judiciary Committee.

The shooter had searched for this information on July 6th, according to Wray. This was the day he had registered for the Trump event in the city of Butler in Pennsylvania. "On July 6th, he made a Google search for: 'How far was Oswald from Kennedy'," Wray said.

FBI: Shooter flew a drone

Furthermore, the shooter had launched a drone about 180 meters from the stage only a few hours before Trump appeared, the FBI chief added. The drone was in the air for about eleven minutes and was later found in the shooter's car, according to CNN.

A shooter had opened fire at a campaign event of Trump's on July 13th. A spectator was killed, and two others were severely wounded. Trump was also injured in the ear. The perpetrator was killed by security personnel. In the past few days, there had been heavy criticism of the Secret Service's procedures, as the shooter was able to reach a roof with a direct view of the stage despite all security measures. On Tuesday, the head of the Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, finally took action and resigned.
