FBI finds new leads on Trump assassin's laptop

According to the FBI, Thomas Matthew Crooks is responsible for the attack on Donald Trump. The laptop of the 20-year-old also contained further evidence. He apparently took a particular interest in the most famous attack on a President in US history - the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

The man who opened fire at a campaign rally of former US President Donald Trump two weeks ago was, according to the FBI, searching for details about JFK's assassination on the internet before the incident. The FBI analysis of Thomas Matthew Crooks' laptop reportedly revealed that he was trying to find out how far Lee Harvey Oswald was from Kennedy when he shot him in 1963. FBI Director Christopher Wray testified about the Trump attack before the House Judiciary Committee.

According to Wray, Crooks searched for this information on July 6th. That was the day he registered for the Trump rally in the city of Butler, Pennsylvania. "On July 6th, he did a Google search for: 'How far was Oswald from Kennedy'," Wray said.

Thomas Matthew Crooks also reportedly flew a drone about 180 meters from the stage just a few hours before Trump appeared, according to the FBI Chief. The drone was in the air for about eleven minutes and was later found in the shooter's car, according to CNN.

The shooter opened fire at a Trump rally on July 13th, killing one spectator and injuring two others. Trump was also injured. The 20-year-old was killed by security guards.

In the past few days, there have been harsh criticisms of the Secret Service's actions, as the shooter was able to reach the roof with a direct view of the stage despite all security measures. Eventually, the head of the Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, took consequences and resigned.

The FBI's investigation into the assault on Donald Trump at his rally revealed that the suspect, Thomas Matthew Crooks, had shown interest in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The FBI testimonies before the House Judiciary Committee highlighted that Crooks had searched for details about Lee Harvey Oswald's distance from JFK when he was shot. The FBI also found that Crooks flew a drone near the stage where Trump was to appear before the incident.
