Favored Amazon Bargain of the Moment: M2 MacBook Air

In April, when the new M3 laptops were released, the M2 MacBook Air dipped to $999. It was a terrific deal then, and at $829, it's definitely worth considering an upgrade. For those who need more storage, the 512GB SSD version is also marked down to $1,029 on Amazon (originally $1,199). On the other hand, if you're after the 15-inch screen, Best Buy's offer of $1,199.99 is the best bet (rather than the original price of $1,499).
The M2 MacBook Air is considered the best ultraportable computer from Apple, but it's not for everyone, according to Jake. With M2's eight-core CPU, 10-core GPU, from 8GB to 24GB of memory, two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, a MagSafe charging port, a 1080p webcam, a display supporting a P3 color gamut with up to 500 nits of brightness, and a promise of 18-hour battery life with the larger battery powering the bigger display. That being said, this model may not be suitable for all.
The Air's 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD storage is rather low in comparison to modern computers, but M2's efficiency makes it capable of handling a lot with minimal memory. However, there may come a time when 8GB of RAM just won't suffice, and you can't upgrade it yourself. The same applies to storage: if you keep all your files in the cloud, 256GB could be sufficient. But if you store photos, videos, or large files locally, you'll eventually need to purchase an external drive or constantly manage your storage until you replace the computer.
