Time and again, elderly people fall victim to con artists who tell them tall tales over the phone. Sometimes, however, the perpetrators are stopped in time.

Crime - Fake policeman arrested for defrauding old woman

A young man posed as a police officer in Berlin-Charlottenburg to deceive an old woman. The 19-year-old called the 84-year-old woman on a Tuesday and instructed her to bring her money to a park bench to protect it from a planned robbery, according to the police. He took the money and fled. Police who noticed the incident were able to stop and arrest him.

The woman, who was deceived, lived in the densely populated Berlin district. This particular fraudulent scheme resulted in significant financial loss for her.
