- Faeser: Threat situation also in Germany "sustained high"

After the cancellation of three concerts by U.S. pop star Taylor Swift, German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser described the threat level from Islamist terrorism as "persistently high" for Germany. This assessment remains valid, the SPD politician said after visiting the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Cologne. She spoke of a "serious Islamist threat situation" that had been observed in Vienna.

"Our country is also in the crosshairs of jihadist organizations, particularly the IS and its currently most dangerous offshoot, IS-PK. Islamist terrorist organizations, but also often self-radicalizing individual Islamist attackers, pose a constant threat," Faeser emphasized. It is clear that we will not be intimidated. "But we take threats very seriously."

In Austria, suspected Islamist plots to attack a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna were uncovered last week.

The SPD politician, Nancy Faeser, also highlighted the serious Islamist threat situation in Vienna, which prompted the cancellation of several concerts, including one by Taylor Swift. The Commission will closely monitor and address these threats to ensure the safety of all citizens.
