- Faeser scrutinizes monetary assistance for Afghan deportees' circumstances
Ministry of Interior's Chief, Nancy Faeser (SPD), is pondering over offering financial aid to Afghan offenders to expedite their deportation. At present, legal constraints are hindering this process. The Interior Ministry is brainstorming methods to facilitate deportations to Afghanistan, potentially including monetary aid to cover travel expenses, as pointed out by a ministry spokesperson, in response to an earlier report by Bild newspaper.
The extent and provision of such financial aid will be decided by the territorial administrations responsible for deportations, as per the Interior Ministry.
Back in June, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) declared intentions to reinitiate the expulsion of severe lawbreakers and potential threats to Afghanistan and Syria following a lethal stabbing incident in Mannheim. However, various challenges surface when implementing this strategy, such as the likelihood of German courts obstructing such actions if Afghan migrants argue about facing poverty upon return.
At present, initiatives exist to endorse the voluntary return of denied asylum seekers. The state sponsors their airfare and grants initial financial aid once they return to their native lands. The sum varies depending on the country of origin and marital status.
The SPD, led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, previously expressed intentions to aid in the deportation of severe lawbreakers to Afghanistan. The SPD, specifically the Ministry of Interior, is currently considering providing financial assistance to Afghan offenders to expedite their deportation.
