Purchasing behavior - Fabian Hambüchen is a "potato chips addict"

Champion Olympian Fabian Hambüchen has a weakness for chips. The 36-year-old openly refers to himself as a "chip addict". "If I didn't have my wife, there would be a bag of chips every week without a doubt", he reported on his shopping behavior in supermarkets. Once his wife had been away with a friend for two weeks in Canada - and found three bags in the trash upon her return. "That wasn't smart of me", Hambüchen looked back on the blunder.

However, Hambüchen also emphasized: "If you eat balanced, then it's no problem to indulge in a piece of chocolate or something every now and then." And he mentioned his wife, who is a nutritionist, saying they had a very balanced eating habit.

Hambüchen steps in as a cashier

Hambüchen was confronted with very diverse shopping behavior on a Tuesday. At a supermarket checkout counter in a Netto store in Cologne, he stepped in as a cashier for a good cause. Netto and the "Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern e.V." foundation are currently collecting money for flood victims. Hambüchen was not only supposed to cash in, but also to encourage customers to round up their payments and donate.

Impressed by the work of cashiers, Hambüchen expressed his opinion: "These guys and girls here must have thick hides", Hambüchen commented. "People are sometimes really ungrateful and rude when they have to wait a minute longer", he said. He believed that he himself had a patient disposition. But: "I would probably get fed up at some point."
