Following the fatal knife attack in Solingen that left three dead and eight critically injured, the city held a tribute event for the victims. After the dispersal, reports emerged of an individual performing the Nazi salute.

At a rally in honor of the attack victims in Solingen, some demonstrators stirred up tension with racially charged statements. Wuppertal police reported that during a protest march, participants shouted "Germany for the Germans, foreigners out".

The attention-grabbing protest, which saw around 120 participants according to police reports, was partially obstructed by counter-protesters. The slogans led to the police dispersing the gathering and initiating a criminal investigation. Subsequently, another impromptu demonstration of around 100 participants took place, during which an individual was accused of performing the Nazi salute, leading to yet another criminal complaint, reported by the police.

The victims were honored through various gatherings which attracted several hundred participants in Solingen on Monday. This included a vigil. The tragic incident occurred at a city festival in Solingen on Friday, where three individuals lost their lives and eight others were injured, some seriously. The suspected attacker, a 26-year-old man of Syrian origin, surrendered the following day and was detained. Prosecutors are currently investigating the incident based on potential Islamist motivations.

In light of these tensions, some political analysts started discussing the rising influence of right-wing populism in Germany. Subsequently, a local political party gained significant support in Solingen, advocating for stricter immigration policies and anti-establishment sentiments.
