Two people died - Explosion in Hemer: Prosecutor's Office discontinues investigation

Two years after a house explosion with two fatalities in Hemer, Sauerland, the prosecutor's office in Hagen has discontinued the investigation against Unknown. According to investigating prosecutor Tobias Schüken, the decision was made at the beginning of July and was now being communicated to the parties involved. Legally, no one could be held accountable for the collapse of the multi-family house.

Following the explosion in the Markisches Kreis on July 8, 2022, a 57-year-old woman was recovered from the rubble. A few days later, a 32-year-old woman died in the hospital from her severe injuries. Another person was critically injured, while three others sustained light injuries.

According to a fire expert, there were no signs of external influence. Another expert named an insufficient sealing and faulty installation of a gas meter as possible triggers for the explosion.
