Several people were injured, some severely, in an explosion in the driver's paddock area at the Nürburgring - just hours before the six-hour Ruhr-Pokal race. The injured were transported to a hospital by helicopter, as reported by a spokesperson for the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring. Initial findings suggest the explosion occurred shortly after 6:00 PM behind a pit box.

At the time of the incident, a test and setup run was taking place. This was immediately stopped, and the accident site was secured, the organizers reported. Police are now investigating the cause of the explosion. The setup run served as preparation for the NLS4, in which various classes will compete in the six-hour Ruhr-Pokal race on Saturday.
