Explosion at Russian headquarters in Melitopol
According to the Ukrainian military intelligence service, resistance fighters attacked a Russian headquarters in Russian-occupied Melitopol. The explosion is said to have occurred at the exact moment when representatives of the Russian secret service FSB and the National Guard were meeting.
According to the Ukrainian military intelligence service, at least three Russian officers were killed by an explosion triggered by the "resistance movement" in Russian-occupied southern Ukraine. The explosion had occurred the day before in the "headquarters of the occupation" in Melitopol and was the result of an action by the "local resistance movement", the military intelligence service announced on Telegram.
It was the premises of the "New Post Office" captured by the Russians, where a meeting of the occupiers was taking place, it added. According to the report, members of the Russian secret service FSB and the Russian National Guard were present.
According to the report by the Ukrainian defense intelligence service, the Russians blocked traffic between the Melitopol Auto-Hydroaggregat (AGAT) company and the former refrigeration plant an hour before the meeting. The Russian occupying forces had meanwhile converted both industrial plants into a military base. The explosion caused a car to burn near the headquarters. The secret service is currently investigating whether there were further casualties as a result of the explosion. Russia has not yet confirmed the attack by the Ukrainian resistance fighters.
Exiled mayor confirms loud explosion
The exiled mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fyodorov, had reported that his sources had informed him of a loud explosion in the occupied city on November 11 at around 7 pm.
The report of the explosion comes at a time when Ukrainian forces are continuing a counter-offensive in the southern Zaporizhzhya oblast and on two axes of the eastern Donetsk oblast. While the offensive launched in June has made slow progress, Ukraine has been actively attacking military targets deep in Russian-occupied territories.
The occupied Ukrainian city of Melitopol plays an important logistical role for the Russian army. From there, the Russians secure their southern defense lines. Melitopol also serves as the occupying forces' administrative capital for the Zaporizhzhya region, which has not been fully conquered.
The Ukrainian military intelligence service accused Russia of downplaying the implications of the explosion at the Russian headquarters in Melitopol, claiming that at least three Russian officers were killed in the 'Attack on Ukraine' by the local resistance movement. Meanwhile, Russian secret services, including the FSB, have been closely monitoring the situation and investigating any potential casualties resulting from the attack.
