Expansion of wildfire persists in the vicinity of Los Angeles
Raging inferno in California's sun-soaked landscape expands, engulfing close to 60 square kilometers in Los Angeles and nearby Ventura County by sundown on Sunday (early Monday morning CET). The blaze, controlled by just a measly 2%, continues to flout authority as the source remains a mystery.
The "Cal Fire" team, composed of over 1100 personnel, battle the blaze with 114 fire engines and 7 hovering rotorcraft. Initial reports of injuries have yet to surface, but media buzz suggests that some structures have been reduced to ashes. Authorities have prudently shuttered access to Pyramid Lake, the fire's intended target, in an attempt to safeguard the area.
Forecasters predict a scorching Monday with stronger winds propelling the flames in the afternoon.
