- Expanding on the reasoning behind the incident: Frankfurt Central Station gunfire
Following the tragic incident at Frankfurt's main railway station, where a man lost his life a week ago, there seem to be more details emerging about the motive behind this heinous act. As per Mehmet Tanriverdi, the deputy chief of the German Kurdish community, both the perpetrator and the victim were Kurds hailing from the Turkey-Syria border region. He obtained this information from various community sources.
An older Turkish man, aged 54, who resides in Baden-Württemberg's Ortenau district, is under suspicion for his involvement in the shooting death of a 27-year-old individual on a train platform last Tuesday evening. This incident has left the Kurdish community in Germany deeply saddened and disturbed, as stated by Tanriverdi.
As mediators, the Kurds believe that the victim had once acted as the aggressor himself, having taken the life of a young man at a strawberry farm in the Turkish city of Antalya back in 2016. Subsequently, he fled to Germany, fearful of repercussions for his crime. Unfortunately, according to the community, the young man was quite careless with his social media presence, making himself an easy target for his enemies. The uncle of the deceased is now the suspected perpetrator in Frankfurt, as per Tanriverdi's information.
In a dramatic turn of events, the confrontation has come full circle within this family, according to Tanriverdi. Since the Turkish authorities are unable to intervene in this matter, the local community leader in Turkey now must act as the mediator and work towards reconciliation between the families. The Kurdish community in Germany also wishes to contribute to resolving this conflict, as mentioned by Tanriverdi.
Blood feuds, a relic of the past, according to Tanriverdi, are still prevalent in certain rural areas of Kurdistan. These include regions with a predominantly Kurdish population, primarily in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. Mainly pertaining to issues regarding property or relationships, blood feuds continue to persist in such regions.
The tragic incident at Frankfurt's railway station has resulted in a cycle of bloodshed, as it seems to be a continuation of a past conflict from the Turkish city of Antalya. The Turkish authorities, due to their inability to intervene, have left the resolution of this violent feud to the local community leader in Turkey and the Kurdish community in Germany.
