- Examination of fake voting documents in Dresden
Following the state election in Saxony, law enforcement in Dresden are currently investigating allegations of manipulated ballots. As per sources, indications of tampered ballots were found during the vote-counting process of postal ballots in at least two electoral districts. Approximately 100 instances of potential fraud have been identified so far. The State Security Office has assumed control of the investigation and reportedly managed to confiscate two tampered ballots. Previously, the "Saxon Newspaper" had reported on this issue.
Government officials claim that unidentified individuals obscured the marked cross on various postal ballots and instead designated the box for the Free Saxons. This minor party, similar to the AfD, is labeled as a right-wing extremist undertaking by the nation's domestic intelligence service. The Free Saxons managed to garner 2.2% of the votes in the state election.
After the revelation of ballot manipulation allegations, the federal election in Saxony is now under scrutiny. The manipulated ballots reportedly favored the Free Saxons, a party previously labeled as a right-wing extremist undertaking.
