Media reports - Ex-advisor to Trump: Steve Bannon starts prison sentence
Former Chief Strategist of ex-US-President Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, has reportedly begun his four-month prison sentence. The 70-year-old appeared at the federal prison in the US state of Connecticut on Monday, as reported by US broadcaster ABC News. Bannon was convicted of contempt of Congress.
Recently, he had attempted to delay his imprisonment at the Supreme Court. However, the Supreme Court denied the petition.
Steve Bannon: Proud to Go to Prison
The ultraconservative publisher and conspiracy theorist Bannon was sentenced to prison nearly two years ago because he ignored a subpoena from the House January 6th Committee and refused to provide requested documents. Bannon considers the charges against him to be politically motivated.
According to ABC News, Bannon stated before entering prison, "If that's what's necessary to put a stop to tyranny (...), then I'm proud to do it."
