Murder trial - Every hundred strokes of the knife - woman admits murder

In the trial for the murder of a 76-year-old, the defendant, a 52-year-old woman from Munich, admitted to committing the crime. At the opening session before Munich I Regional Court, her lawyer read out a statement: The woman wants to "without ifs and buts" contribute to clarification and has already done so in the past. The prosecution accuses the defendant of murder out of jealousy and base motives.

According to the indictment, the 52-year-old inflicted at least one hundred stab wounds on a family acquaintance, mainly on the head, in January 2023. The 76-year-old bled to death. She did this out of fear that the man could re-establish contact with an ex-drinking buddy of her husband. This man, according to the statement, tried to destroy the marriage from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s.

Defense speaks of a brawl

The defendant tried to convince the 76-year-old man multiple times not to give out the friend's phone number. As the defense presented it, there was a brawl at a meeting in the man's apartment. She cannot remember whether she had the knife with her for the meeting or not. Currently, twelve further trial dates have been scheduled until the end of September.

In Bavaria, a total of 39 people were convicted of murder or attempted murder in the last reported year 2022, of whom only four were women. In convictions for manslaughter, women were also significantly underrepresented with 10 of 64 convictions (15%). The Public Prosecutor's Office in Munich is leading the process for the defendant's murder trial. Tod, as the 52-year-old woman is known, is expected to give evidence in her home city's Munich Regional Court. The stabbing incident, resulting in at least one hundred wounds, took place in January 2023. The Cutting stroke, as described in the indictment, was delivered with a deadly intent.
