Ice hockey - ERC Ingolstadt signs defenseman Ellis
The ERC Ingolstadt is bringing back defenseman Morgan Ellis. According to the team's announcement in the German Hockey League, the 32-year-old Canadian will receive a one-year contract from Champions Berlin Eisbären. Ellis played for the Oberbayern in the 2020/21 season. They missed the Playoff Final entry with Ingolstadt only narrowly. After that, he spent three years with the Eisbären.
"He fits the profile we were looking for in our last import player for the defense very well. With his abilities as an all-rounder and leadership personality, he will not only play an important role on the ice but also in the locker room," said Sport Director Tim Regan about Ellis. This player is a "character player who knows how to win and always puts the team concept first."
Ellis's return to the German Hockey League will see him playing for Champions Berlin Eisbären, the team he spent three years with after his stint with Oberbayern in the 2020/21 season. Despite their close miss in the Playoff Final, Ingolstadt couldn't prevent Oberbayern from entering. Meanwhile, in the heart of Bavaria, ERC Ingolstadt is preparing for the new season with transfers in mind. Interinterestingly, Polar Bears Berlin, a prominent ice hockey team based in the city of Berlin, DEL, is also looking to bolster their roster.
