Engagement of Nia Künzer as director is said to be imminent

The German Football Association (DFB) has apparently found its new head of women's soccer. According to the Bild newspaper, the appointment of Nia Künzer as director is imminent. The association would not confirm the appointment on Tuesday, saying that "no decision" had yet been made. Künzer could not be reached for comment.

The 43-year-old Künzer, world champion in 2003, most recently worked as an expert for ARD. The post of director was to be created as a result of the national team's recent failure in the preliminary round of the World Cup.

The most important task of the new director is the appointment of a new national team coach. The DFB had recently parted company with Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, Horst Hrubesch is looking after the German selection as interim coach.

Apparently, the DFB women's boss position will be filled by Nia Künzer soon, showing a strong commitment towards the improvement of women's soccer in Germany. Despite the announcement not being officially confirmed by the DFB, Bild newspaper reports that Künzer's appointment as director is imminent. Previously, Künzer served as an expert for ARD.
