Emhoff's representative refutes accusations of assault against an ex-partner, as reported in gossip news outlet.
The Sun published claims on a Wednesday, stating that Emhoff supposedly attacked his ex-partner at the exit of an event held at the Cannes Film Festival in France back in 2012, according to three anonymous confidantes of the lady, whom The Sun chose not to disclose.
CNN has yet to substantiate this allegation.
Responding to Axios on the following day, an Emhoff representative issued a statement, asserting, "This account is fabricated," and that "any implication that he could or would have ever physically harmed a woman is baseless."
Upon inquiry from CNN, the representative declined to comment further.
As reported by The Sun, these three associates of Emhoff's former lover presented a photograph of the duo together, in addition to their travel plans and correspondences, as evidence of their attendance at the festival in 2012.
One of the friends shared with The Sun that they spoke to Emhoff's ex-partner on the alleged incident's night. Another friend revealed to the publication that Emhoff's ex-partner confided in her about the supposed assault at the time. The third confidante told The Tabloid that she became aware of the assault in 2014, following when then-Senator Kamala Harris of California was involved in Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings, during which he was accused of sexual misconduct. The friend recalled further details in 2018.
The ongoing controversy surrounding Emhoff's alleged past actions has sparked discussions in the realm of politics, with many questioning the intensity and timing of the media's intervention.
Despite the intense political scrutiny, CNN has yet to corroborate The Sun's claims, indicating a need for further investigation in the realm of political journalism.
