Emergency State Enforced in Sevastopol City
Following the destructive Ukrainian rocket assault that claimed four lives and left around 150 people injured, authorities in Sevastopol, a coastline urban center annexed to Crimea, declared an emergency state. As per the decree issued by Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev and disseminated by Russian media outlets, this emergency status will persist over Sevastopol's territory until further notice.
The tragedy left four individuals dead and 151 suffering injuries, with 79 still receiving hospital treatment. Among them, twenty-one individuals, including eleven minors, will be flown to Moscow due to the gravity of their injuries.
Unfortunately, most of the victims were peacefully enjoying the Sevastopol beach when fragments from the rocket rained down and detonated. There was no air alert preceding the attack. Initially, the Russian military took responsibility for the launch, but later recanted and accused Ukrainian missiles of striking innocent civilians. Even in military-related blogs, this accusation is faced with skepticism. Close by, there are several military installations.
As per news outlets, the beach area where the attack occurred has been temporarily closed for swimming. With the declaration of an emergency, constituents' constitutional rights, such as freedom of movement, may potentially be limited.
