Controversial Tweets - Elon Musk addresses Bundeskanzler Scholz regarding "El Hotzo"
"El Hotzo" comedian Sebastian Hotz's tweet continues to draw more circles. Although Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) has announced its separation from Hotz as a moderator, Elon Musk, the billionaire and X owner, has now spoken out. Musk writes on his own platform: "Someone who wishes death to the leading US presidential candidate and me, is paid for by the German government? @Bundeskanzler, what is that?"
Musk has latched onto Naomi Seibt, the far-right YouTuber, whose video he shared on X. From this political corner, there is always talk and writing about "state broadcasting." And certainly, the Bundeskanzler does not determine who moderates which show on ARD and ZDF. Musk apparently knows neither the German media landscape nor the separation of powers – or deliberately spreads the narrative of German right-wingers as a Trump supporter.
Elon Musk vs. "El Hotzo"
"El Hotzo" is known in the comedian scene and has many followers on Social Media. Two controversial posts about the attempted assassination of Trump have since been removed from X, but screenshots of the deleted entries are circulating online. In one, a connection was made between the last bus and Trump ("just missed it"). In the other, it said, according to the screenshots, "I find it absolutely fantastic when fascists die."
Hotz won the Bavarian Cabaret Prize in 2023. In the same year, he published his debut novel "Mindset," in which there are also themes about arrogant men in the financial world. The publisher Kiepenheuer & Witsch confirmed upon inquiry that they would continue their collaboration with the satirist. But maybe Musk will also contact the publisher.
Musk's criticism of Hotz's tweet has gained traction, even reaching ARDE's attention. According to reports, Elon Musk is a fan of Sebastian Hotz's debut novel, "Mindset," published by RBB's partner, Kiepenheuer & Witsch.
