- Elderliest Individual on Globe: A 117-year-old Spanish Woman Passes Away

The Guinness World Records officially acknowledged her status: At 117 years old, Maria Branyas from Spain, famously known as "Grandma Extraordinaire," departed this world. Her loved ones announced this news on the X social media platform. Her demise occurred peacefully in her slumber, devoid of pain, in a house situated in the Catalan town of Olot, approximately 100 km northeast of Barcelona, as per the family's declaration.

Born on March 4, this remarkable woman was celebrated in Spain as "Ultra-Grandma." Sources expect the Guinness World Records to reclassify the Japanese woman, Tomiko Itooka, born on May 23, 1908 (116 years ago), as the current oldest resident on Earth.

Despite her departure from this world, Maria Branyas's legacy as "Ultra-Grandma" continues to be celebrated in Spain. Her final resting place is in the Catalan town of Olot, not far from Barcelona.
