Eighth fatality after severe storms in Tuscany

Following the severe storms with heavy rainfall and flooding in the central Italian region of Tuscany, the death toll has risen to eight. The body of an 84-year-old man was found under mud and debris in the municipality of Prato, the news agencies Ansa and Adnkronos reported on Tuesday, citing local authorities.

Parts of Italy were hit by severe storms last week. The popular vacation region of Tuscany was particularly affected. Entire districts and their streets were under water for several days. The damage caused in Tuscany is estimated at around half a billion euros, according to the president of the region, Eugenio Giani.
