Eighteen-year-old Edan On, accused of assaulting pro-Palestinian protesters at UCLA encampment, faces potential misdemeanor charges.

A man, identified as Edan On by his mother to CNN, was the one captured on camera in videos circulated on social media, attacking peaceful protesters with a long stick. He was detained in May, on charges of felony assault.

George Gascon, the District Attorney of Los Angeles County, released a statement on Friday, addressing the incident involving Mr. On:

"Following a detailed investigation, we find that we can't definitively prove that Mr. On's actions led to the victim's injury. There's no indication that he was working with any other individuals, and our probe uncovered no signs of a conspiracy or organized scheme orchestrated by Mr. On in regards to the altercation."

The district attorney continued, "In light of these circumstances, we think the best course of action is to pass the matter onto the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, which will weigh the option of filing misdemeanor charges."

It's important to note that this story is still evolving, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
