Kindergarten safety - Education Minister Holter: Traffic lights save at the expense of children

The controversy over the Child Allowance is met with bafflement among Thuringian Politicians from the Left. "Nothing concrete came out of the bombastic announcements," said Education Minister Helmut Holter to the German Press Agency. The originally planned Child Allowance was not sufficient in the first place. "There was never talk of additional financial resources for children."

Now, Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) is effectively putting a stop to the already insufficient project, he continued. "The traffic light coalition is saving again at the expense of Children." Previously, Thuringia's Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (Left) had expressed disappointment. "Children are the ones suffering, and family support is once again reduced to the old instruments."

With the Child Allowance, benefits such as child allowance, child benefits from social assistance, or the child supplement are to be bundled. The implementation is causing frustration within the traffic light coalition, especially with regard to staffing requirements in the administration.

Finally, Finance Minister Lindner had rejected the original plans of Family Minister Lisa Paus (Greens) before the next federal election. "We will continue to fund the child supplement and raise the child allowance. This is what we will be doing on the benefits side during this election period," Lindner told the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND).

  2. In a turn of events, Christian Lindner, the German Federal Finance Minister, reportedly impeded the already inadequate Child Allowance project, leading to concerns about potential cuts in social support for Children in Thuringia.
  3. Amidst the Gezerre within the traffic light coalition over the Child Allowance project, Christian Lindner highlighted his commitment to maintaining funding for the child supplement and increasing the child allowance before the forthcoming federal election.
  4. Christian Lindner, the FDP Finance Minister, opposed the initial plans of Family Minister Lisa Paus (Greens) for the Child Allowance in Erfurt, emphasizing the continuation of funding for the child supplement and elevation of the child allowance during the electoral period.
