An earthquake in southern Italy has put residents and tourists on edge in the evening. In the regions of Calabria and Apulia, people fled their homes onto the streets. The national Institute for Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) reported the quake's magnitude at 5.0.

The epicenter was located near the small town of Pietrapaola in the hinterland. Tremors were also felt in larger Mediterranean cities like Bari and Brindisi.

The strongest quake was recorded around 21:45, with the seismic activity occurring at a depth of about 20 kilometers.

As of now, no reports of injuries or major damage have been confirmed by fire services and other authorities. Many tourists are currently in southern Italy during the peak season.

Given the current situation, emergency centers in Bari and Brindisi have been placed on high alert due to the earthquake's impact. In such circumstances, it's crucial for tourists to follow the advice of local authorities and stay informed about any potential threats.
