Tennis - Dutch player Jong is the first opponent of Zverev in Hamburg

The first opponent for Alexander Zverev at the tennis tournament at Hamburg's Rothenbaum stands firm. The Dutchman Jesper de Jong made it through the qualifiers and will now challenge the title defender and Olympic gold medalist. The match is scheduled for Tuesday.

The 27-year-old Zverev, who injured his left knee at the Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon, confirmed on Saturday that he would do everything in his power to participate in the event in his hometown. "I wouldn't try it at any other tournament. This is my hometown, this is where my career began," said the Tokyo Gold Medal winner.

The first match of the main field takes place on Monday at 12:00 PM: Daniel Altmaier (Kempen) plays against the Italian Flavio Cobolli. Maximilian Marterer (Nuernberg) faces the South Korean Kwon Soon-Woo, and Henri Squire (Dusseldorf) takes on the Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo on the Center Court of the traditional venue.

In the upcoming ATP500 tournament in Hamburg, Alexander Zverev, the Olympic gold medalist, will face his first opponent, Jesper de Jong, on Tuesday.
