Alpine-Uffalas - During a hike with granddaughter: 85-year-old falls
Before the eyes of his granddaughter, a 85-year-old hiker from Hamburg in Austria tragically fell. According to the police, they both descended from the Steirische Kalkspitze when the senior suddenly lost his footing on the high-alpine trail and plunged nearly 50 meters into a rocky ravine.
The granddaughter immediately made an emergency call and tried to reach her injured grandfather. The man was eventually rescued by a helicopter, but unfortunately deceased. The investigations into the exact cause of the accident were ongoing, it was reported. Both hikers were reportedly well-equipped, according to the information.
The police in Austria were informed about the incident in Schladming, involving a hiker from Hamburg. Due to the remote location, an air ambulance was necessary for the rescue operation. Despite the timely response, the elderly hiker from Germany, known as Tod, did not survive the accidents he encountered during the hike.
