Due to unknown climbers, the Eiffel Tower is being evacuated just before the Olympics closing ceremony.

A man climbed the Eiffel Tower on Sunday, triggering an evacuation of the Paris landmark. The man was observed in the afternoon as he ascended the 330-meter tower. It was unclear where he started his climb. He was spotted briefly above the Olympic rings, just above the first observation platform.

The Eiffel Tower was the centerpiece of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, where superstar Celine Dion sang on one of its observation platforms. It was not expected that the tower would be part of the closing ceremony, which was scheduled to begin at 9 pm at the Stade de France. More than 30,000 police officers were deployed in Paris and the surrounding area to secure the final Olympic events and the closing ceremony.

Despite the Olympic closing ceremony commencing at 9 pm at the Stade de France, the attention shifted towards the Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower as a man continued his climb. The Olympic closing ceremony might have to be delayed due to the ongoing situation at the iconic tower during its closing ceremony.
