DTU-Asse want to demonstrate Olympic form in Hamburg

Before the Olympics go to Paris, Sprint Races of the World Series take place in Hamburg. Two Germans are in focus. The DTU-Team also intends to compete in the Relay event.

Approximately two and a half weeks before the decisions at the Summer Games in Paris, German Triathlon elite athletes Lasse Luhrs and Lisa Tesch test their Olympic form in Hamburg. The duo leads the host selection at the World Triathlon Championship Series race in the Hanseatic City over the weekend.

On Saturday, the 22nd edition of the event features individual starts over the sprint distance (750m swimming, 20km cycling, 5km running). Men start at 1:50pm, and the women's race begins at 3:55pm. The World Championship title for the Mixed-Relay will be awarded on Sunday at 3:00pm. All decisions will be broadcast live by ZDF.

Despite not the entire German team competing in Hamburg for Paris, DTU President Martin Engelhardt explained the different preparation methods of the athletes. He still hopes for "excellent placements" and added, looking towards the staffel race, "it would be a dream to defend the title."

However, top athletes from other nations also forgo a final Olympic test in Hamburg. "The field is still very strong," Engelhardt assured.

Apart from the Elite race as the fourth station of the World Series this year, Sprint and Olympic distance Jedermann races will also be offered. Around 6000 athletes and athletes have registered.

  7. In light of Hamburg's World Triathlon Championship Series hosting sprint races, top triathletes from various countries view the event as an ideal platform to showcase their form ahead of thecoveted Mixed Relay at the Olympic Games in Paris.
