Accident - Drunk streetcar driver collides with car

A Munich tram driver, according to the police, drove under the influence and collided with an turning car, injuring a woman. It is still unclear whether the traffic light for the 45-year-old car driver was green or red, the police stated. A 56-year-old woman in the tram sustained light injuries.

An alcohol breath test yielded approximately 1.0 promille for the 50-year-old tram driver, a police spokesperson said. Blood was drawn from the woman and her regular driver's license was taken. During the measures, the railway line was closed for approximately two hours. The police are now looking for witnesses.

The incident involved a car and a tram in the bustling city of Munich, located in Upper Bavaria, Bavaria. The traffic accident resulted in injuries for a woman, who was traveling in the tram. Subsequently, the police launched an investigation into the cause of the accident and the drivers' involvement. In particular, the 50-year-old tram driver was found to have a blood alcohol level of 1.0 promille during an alcohol breath test.
