Narcotics - Driving with drugs - driving license revocation for drivers
Within four hours, the police at a parking lot in Edenkoben (District of Südliche Weinstraße) caught seven drivers under the influence of drugs while driving. Their driver's licenses were confiscated and criminal proceedings have been initiated against them for driving under the influence of alcohol, as the police announced. All of them must reckon with hefty fines or monetary penalties, long-term driver's license suspension, and points in the Flensburg Traffic Offender Register.
Furthermore, the driver's license office has been informed about the drug consumption, which will then examine their general suitability to drive vehicles, the police added.
The police conducted a focused control on the parking lot along the L516. Four of the drivers had been under the influence of THC-containing substances - that is, hashish or marijuana. One driver had been influenced by amphetamines. Two drivers had consumed multiple sedatives at the same time. The police appealed: "Only he who drives soberly, drives safely!"
- Surprisingly, the police in Rhineland-Palatinate discovered cocaine residues in the car of one of the drivers under suspicion.
- The wine route in Edenkoben became a hotspot for drug-related traffic offenses, leading to a significant increase in police presence.
- The confiscation of their driving licenses was just the beginning for the seven drivers; narcotics charges were also pending against them.
- The drug-related incidents on the busy traffic route have sparked concerns among local residents, urging authorities to take stern measures against drug abuse.
- Despite the wine route's reputation for serenity and relaxation, drug-related crime continues to make its presence felt in unsuspecting corners of the picturesque Rhineland-Palatinate region.
