Disruption occurs at significant Samsung manufacturing facility in southern India
At Samsung, there's some turbulence due to a strike at a significant Indian factory. On the second day in a row, over 300 employees staged a walkout on Tuesday, pushing for improved wages and workplace conditions.
This factory is one of Samsung's two facilities in India, run by the South Korean giant. Approximately 1,800 people work here, producing electronic items. Despite its scale, it accounts for 20-30% of Samsung's annual $12 billion earnings in India, according to two sources with inside knowledge. On Monday, roughly half of the factory's daily output was affected due to this strike.
The company remained silent when approached for a comment. As India's leading electronics consumer brand, Samsung views the subcontinent as a vital market.
The strike at the Indian factory has led to a significant disruption in Samsung's daily output, affecting approximately half of the production on Monday. As a result, the South Korean giant may experience financial losses, considering the factory contributes significantly to their annual earnings in India.
