A dispute between a landlord couple and a former tenant in Osthessen led to the discovery of a body. The landlord couple from Lauterbach in the Vogelsbergkreis, according to the police, are suspected by investigators of having killed a 55-year-old mentally challenged woman, as the Osthessen Police Department in Fulda reported.
The 58-year-old man and his 43-year-old partner were arrested. They deny the crime, according to the police. The trigger for the investigation was reportedly a call-out on Sunday evening due to the dispute between the landlord and the former tenant. The former tenant informed the police that the 55-year-old woman had lived in the house until the beginning of the year, but had suddenly disappeared.
During further interrogations on Monday, the man also reported various acts of violence by the landlords against the woman. Through additional witness interviews and financial investigations, the suspicion of a capital offense arose. Special forces arrested the landlord couple.
During a subsequent search of the house, extensive evidence material and the remains of the woman were discovered. The investigators did not want to make any statements about the autopsy result and the cause of death of the woman for tactical investigation reasons.
The police investigation into the missing woman's disappearance in Osthessen led to international interest due to its serious nature. The suspects, the landlord couple, claimed innocence, but their arrested sparked controversy worldwide. The body of the 55-year-old was found with signs of crime, leading to charges of murder and manslaughter.
