Discussion Surfaces Regarding History-Making $540 Million in Contributions Toward Presidential Campaign of Harris.
Kamala Harris's Vice Presidential campaign squad allegedly accumulated an astounding $540 million (approximately €482 million) in contributions ever since her campaign kickoff. They consider this figure a "record-breaking" achievement. Around $80 million was accumulated during the Democrat National Convention, which transpired in Chicago recently, with a significant portion stemming from Harris' speech on Thursday evening (local time).
A third of all contributions were made by first-time donors, the team highlighted, implying substantial backing from the party's main constituency. Two-thirds of these new contributors were women, they further disclosed. However, these figures are yet to be corroborated by an independent source, waiting for the official financial report submission by the campaign to the relevant authority.
US presidential campaigns tend to be financially burdensome, with only sufficiently funded candidates having the capacity to sustain their campaign throughout.
On July 21, US President Joe Biden chose to step down from his presidential bid and designated Harris as his substitute. The 59-year-old was nominated by the Democrats and formally acknowledged the nomination in Chicago. Harris will now compete against Republican Donald Trump in the presidential election on November 5, positioning herself in a tight race against the former president.
The squad acknowledged that a significant portion of the record-breaking funds came from supporters who donated for the first time, contributing to the strength of their base. Additionally, it was revealed that the majority of these new donors were women, showcasing the support from a diverse group of other individuals.
