Demonstrator aged 24 was fatally shot amidst unrest in Nairobi.
During the rallies opposing the tax legislation in Kenya, a 24-year-old protestor succumbed to a gunshot injury he sustained. He took part in the protests happening in Nairobi on Thursday night, where countless individuals supported the parliamentary discussion and vote on the contentious law.
As per the family's legal representative, the man was shot by the police in his leg and passed away due to excessive bleeding, which wasn't treated for over 20 minutes. A protest leader urged everyone to pay their respects to the deceased man's parents by visiting the morgue of the hospital where his body was kept.
Amnesty International revealed on Thursday night that at least 200 people had been hurt in Nairobi alone during the protests.
Numerous Kenyans are worried that the new tax law may cause a substantial rise in living expenses they can barely manage, while business owners and entrepreneurs are concerned about potential substantial losses due to decreasing buying power.
