Demonstration opposing AfD in Erfurt
"On the night before Thuringia's state election, numerous individuals join an opposing protest against the AfD in Erfurt. A rally, led by the union "Grab the Seats", traverses the city center and heads towards Domplatz, where the AfD intended to host its election campaign conclusion event. Among the AfD's extreme-right figures and key candidate Björn Höcke, federal co-chair Alice Weidel was supposed to make an appearance. Come Sunday, a new Thuringian parliament will be chosen following a fiery political campaign."
The alliance expressed, "We won't let the AfD monopolize the election weekend with their dangerous extremist remarks, scare the public, and use our city as a platform for their propaganda." A week prior, tens of thousands in Erfurt mobilized against right-wing extremism and a political drift to the right.
The closing polls in Thuringia indicated minimal variance in party ideologies. The AfD was in front with values ranging from 29 to 30%. The CDU, BSW, and Left were considerably behind. Approximately 1.66 million Thuringians are set to cast their votes on Sunday.
The union "Grab the Seats" played a significant role in the opposing protest against the AfD, aiming to counter their presence and messages during Thuringia's election weekend. Despite being a minority, The Union was expected to have a modest representation in the new Thuringian parliament, as indicated by the closing polls.
