The defense budget is expected to reach around 80 billion Euros by the year 2028.

With this, Germany will long-term meet the NATO goal of contributing two percent of its economic output for defense, even if the special fund for the Bundeswehr is completely exhausted, said Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) in results of the budget deliberations for 2025 and the following years. The regular defense budget has a volume of approximately 52 billion Euros in this year.
