Recently, the Federal Statistical Office revealed that in May, there were around 80,643 deaths throughout the country. This is about 1% lower than the typical average for May from 2020 to 2023. Deaths were closely watched during the COVID-19 pandemic years of 2020 and 2022.
Following the end of the seasonal flu season, the death rate in Germany dipped below the average monthly rate of previous years in April. After the flu wave subsided, deaths returned to levels within the range of comparison rates for the months of the past. The Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden shared this news.
