The 1. FC Union Berlin opens its new Training Center for the youth and women's teams at the weekend for the club's fans. Visitors and visitors's can observe on Saturdays and Sundays what has been built in the Training Center Oberspree in two and a half years.
The total costs of the new construction are reportedly 25 million Euro by Union, of which 11.5 million Euro are funding from the Berlin state budget and the federal budget. The club itself contributes 13.5 million Euro to the overall financing.
At the opening ceremony on Friday, in addition to President Dirk Zingler and Captain Christopher Trimmel, there were also prominent figures from politics. "With the Training Center Oberspree, with the support of the Federal Government, a modern sports facility has been built in Berlin-Köpenick, which also makes a contribution to climate adaptation with its green roofs," said Klara Geywitz (SPD), Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Building. "The facility benefits not only the youth of Union Berlin, but also the girls and boys of the neighboring kindergartens and primary schools."
Berlin's Senator for Interior and Sports Iris Spranger (SPD) was also present at the ceremony.
