- Danish Youngster Meets Tragic End due to Heaping of Sandbags
Two lads, eleven and thirteen years old, got trapped under piles of sand while engaging in beach activities in Nørre Vorupør, Denmark. According to Danish authorities, they were from Munich.
The incident took place on Sunday, with the boys getting buried under sand masses during a landslide. Emergency services swiftly responded, and they were extracted approximately 40 minutes later. Immediate medical attention was provided, and they were transported by air ambulance to a local hospital in a critical state. Their health status stayed uncertain until recently.
Regrettably, news came on Tuesday evening confirming that the two lads had perished, as confirmed by the police, representing the Middle Jutland region. The event continues to be categorized as a "heartrending mishap".
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that the youngsters had been carving out a sort of tunnel into the dunes as part of their play, which could have possibly caused the landslide. Furthermore, the recent downpours might have amplified the hazard of such landslides along the coastline, the police explained. Their parents were present nearby.
Just on the same Sunday, another landslide took place in the vicinity, necessitating the rescue of a ten-year-old German boy. Thankfully, he emerged unscathed from the incident.
