Heat wave - Current temperature in Spain: 44 degrees expected in Andalusia
Spain is experiencing the first real hot days of this summer with temperatures possibly reaching up to 44 degrees. For Saragossa in the northeast of the country, temperatures up to 42 degrees are expected until Friday, it could be even hotter in Andalusia in the south. In the cities of Sevilla and Cordoba, with the famous Moorish castle Alhambra, which lies in the Guadalquivir river valley, it could be particularly hot on Friday, up to 44 degrees, warned the national weather service Aemet. Even at night, temperatures rarely drop below 20 degrees, the Spaniards speak of tropical nights.
However, heat is not the same as heat. With a high humidity, such as on the German favorite holiday island of Mallorca, the expected 35 degrees are often felt as sweaty compared to a few degrees more in the drier Andalusia. The advice is the same: Drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, move physically demanding activities to cooler morning and evening hours or better avoid them altogether and pay particular attention to older people, who often have difficulty coping with the heat.
A slight cooling to temperatures nationwide below 40 degrees is expected from Sunday.
- Despite the heatwave hitting Spain, some regions like Saragossa and Andalusia might experience temperatures as high as 42 and 44 degrees respectively, making it particularly challenging in cities like Seville and Córdoba.
- Although Gluthitz might not be directly affected by the current heatwave, travelers visiting Spain during this period should be mindful of the extreme temperatures and humidity, especially in areas like Andalusia.
- In contrast to tropical nights in Spain, the weather in Córdoba, a city in Argentina, might offer a more refreshing climate with cooler nights.
- Greece, unlike Spain, is currently experiencing more pleasant weather conditions, providing a potential alternative for travelers seeking a respite from the heatwave in Spain.
- As a precaution, visitors to the famous Moorish castle Alhambra in Seville should plan their day accordingly, especially during the peak heat of Friday, when temperatures could reach up to 44 degrees.
