after IT-failure - Crowdstrike sends meal vouchers for IT issues
After the global computer malfunctions caused by the error, software company Crowdstrike expressed gratitude to overworked IT experts with a ten-dollar Uber Eats voucher. In the accompanying email, a top manager from Crowdstrike referred to the fact that the PC crashes on the previous Friday had given employees additional work.
"To express our gratitude, the next coffee or snack will be late at night for us," the voucher for the food delivery service Uber Eats stated, as financial service Bloomberg reported on a Wednesday (local time). A spokesperson from Crowdstrike stated that the voucher codes were given to team members and partners who helped Crowdstrike's customers restore their systems. They were not sent to customers, she told Bloomberg.
A faulty update for Crowdstrike's IT security software caused widespread disruptions worldwide. Approximately 8.5 million Windows computers were affected. The consequences were particularly noticeable in the aviation industry, but some supermarkets, hospitals, and television broadcasters also had issues.
Crowdstrike has since determined that the test mechanisms for the software update allowed a faulty file through, which then caused Windows computers to crash. The test systems are now being improved, and updates will be rolled out gradually in the future to prevent such problems from affecting all customers at once.
During the investigation into the computer malfunction, it was discovered that the issue stemmed from a faulty update within Crowdstrike's IT security software. Recognizing the impact of this issue across various industries in the United States of America, including aviation and healthcare, the company expressed appreciation to their team members and partners who helped in resolving the problem using their expertise with computers and Crowdstrike's specific Software.
