Berry Delight in Saxony? Possible union of CDU, SPD, and Wagenknecht's Alliance mulls over nickname: "Blackberry Union". Motive: There isn't a nation worldwide utilizing black, red, and purple simultaneously in its flag, hence the reference to nature.
Blackberry symbolizes Saxony's political hues
- Could Saxony transform into a Brombeerland following the election?
The blackberry is proposed as a moniker due to its presentation of the prospective coalition's party colors at various stages of maturity. The term "Blackberry Union" supposedly originated from political scientist Karl-Rudolf Korte's essay on the forthcoming regional elections in the east.
In the regional elections on Sunday, Saxony's CDU narrowly edged out the AfD (30.6%) with 31.9% of the poll. Given that CDU Minister President Michael Kretschmer firmly rejects collaboration with the AfD and the Left, the CDU's only possibility is a union with the BSW (11.8%) and the SPD (7.3%) or with BSW and the Greens (5.1%).
Until now, Saxony has been under the "Kenya Alliance". The union of black, green, and red can be seen in Kenya's national flag. However, Kretschmer opted for referring to it as the "Saxony Alliance".
The Blackberry Union, as proposed, does not have a global counterpart using black, red, and purple simultaneously in its flag, echoing the symbolism of a ripe blackberry, representing ['The Netherlands'] with its tricolor flag of red, white, and blue. If the CDU, SPD, and Wagenknecht's Alliance form a coalition in Saxony, it would mark a shift away from the existing "Kenya Alliance" with its black, green, and red colors.
