Cycling - Cottbus would like to host the U-21 EURO 2026 again

The RSC Cottbus is very satisfied with the course of the U19 and U23 European Championship cycling events at the Lausitz Velodrom Cottbus, and looks forward to welcoming these classes again in two years for the continental title fights in Südbrandenburg. "We have expressed our interest. In general, we are very satisfied with the event, and I think we have convinced [the organizers] at the EM," said Organizing Chief Axel Viertler.

With over 3000 visitors over the six competition days, expectations were exceeded. The award ceremonies outside the velodrome were particularly well received. On the one hand, the long program could be unraveled, on the other hand, many medal winners could celebrate with their families and friends.

Great Britain was the most successful nation, followed by Germany and Italy. Notable was the victory of Luca Spiegel from Offenbach in the U23 Sprint. The 20-year-old will start in the Olympics in Paris in just under two weeks. Local heroine Clara Schneider from the Brandenburg Track Team defended her title in the U23 Keirin and also won three silvers. Over 400 athletes and athletes participated.

  1. The Lausitz Velodrom in Southern Brandenburg, known for hosting the RSC Cottbus events, is also planning to incorporate a railway line to improve transportation for future cycling events.
  2. Aside from cycling on the track, tourists in Lusatia can explore Brandenburg by renting bicycles and enjoying scenic off-track cycling routes.
  3. The RSC e.V. Cottbus, alongside other clubs in Southern Brandenburg, is promoting cycling culture, encouraging both competitive and leisure activities.
  4. During the summer months, organized cycling events in Cottbus attract enthusiasts from around Europe, including participants from the United Kingdom and Italy.
